Job Description
JOB TITLE: Home Liaison-Granger High School
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Must pass Washington State Patrol (WSP) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) background checks
- Experience working with students, families, and community agencies
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Federal Programs and Assessment Director
JOB GOAL:
To coordinate services and support for Granger students by building strong relationships between the school, families, and community, with a focus on attendance improvement, dropout prevention, and academic success.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a liaison between school and home, fostering effective communication and trust between families and school personnel.
- Conduct regular home visits to address student attendance, academic, behavioral, or social-emotional concerns, and assist in resolving these issues.
- Support students and families with chronic absenteeism or truancy by implementing and monitoring attendance intervention plans.
- Participate in school-based attendance teams to review student data, develop strategies, and follow up with at-risk students.
- Assist in carrying out the district’s dropout prevention efforts by identifying and supporting students at risk of disengaging from school.
- Refer students and families to appropriate school or community services, such as counseling, health care, housing assistance, or youth programs.
- Provide families with information about programs and services available through the district, including Title I services, after-school programs, and language support.
- Encourage parent involvement in school activities and events by organizing or supporting family engagement efforts such as trainings, conferences, or informational nights.
- Complete and submit weekly enrollment updates for assigned buildings to ensure accurate student records.
- Gather and maintain data related to student needs, attendance patterns, potential dropouts, and family engagement for program evaluation and compliance.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and confidential documentation of home visits, parent communications, and other outreach activities.
- Collaborate with building staff, counselors, and district administrators to support individual students and broader school improvement goals.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and cultural competence when working with diverse student and family populations.
- Work a flexible schedule when necessary to accommodate parent meetings or home visits outside standard hours.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the building principal or district leadership to support student success and family engagement.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
LENGTH: 190 contract days (includes 10 paid holidays)
SCHEDULE: 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: As agreed to by the board of directors in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, as provided by state law and local board policy.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated at least once annually by May 30
