What are the responsibilities and job description for the District Court Clerk 1 position at Grant County?
Perform a full range of office and courtroom administrative support services to assist in the administration of the District Court. The following examples of duties and accountabilities illustrate the general range of tasks assigned to the position but are not intended to define the limits of required duties. Other essential duties may be assigned consistent with the general scope of the position. Employee must comply with all County and department policies, procedures, WAC’s, or other regulatory bodies.

Required
• Minimum 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Office administrative experience: including word processing, data entry, file preparation /management, basic bookkeeping, and safekeeping of confidential information
• Must have strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.,
• Must be comfortable working in an office & court room environment
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to last minute assignment changes & constant interruptions
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employees & judges
• Must have experience working in a fast-paced office environment
• Able to multitask and/or adapt to a variety of work assignments
• Appropriate public service in person and by telephone
• Valid Driver’s License with proof of automobile insurance
• Background Check: Must have an acceptable background record
• Driving Abstract: Must have an acceptable driving record
Preferred
• Experience with JIS or DOS based systems
• Two years office experience in a field closely related to the judicial or legal practice
• Experience with preparation of documents, reports, or formal correspondence
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed inside but can be performed in varying temperatures. Employee may be exposed to office supply odors or vapors. Employee may also be exposed to sub-sanitary environments.

- Performing administrative support services in the District Court office.
- Administrative support tasks also may include: accepting and accounting for fines and fees paid; preparing such documents as arraignment and sentencing papers; interpreting court orders and reviewing case files to determine if sentencing conditions have been met; personal and telephone assistance to attorneys and citizens such as providing appropriate and authorized information on pending matters and filing procedures; assisting attorneys and pro se parties with filing of documents for legal proceedings; assisting in setting calendar dates and composing form letters for transmitting documents or requesting information.
