Substitute School Nurse – Job Description
Grapevine Faith Christian School exists to develop and graduate authentic Christian leaders.
Position Summary:
The Substitute School Nurse supports the mission of our school by providing health services to our students. The Substitute School Nurse will follow a comprehensive program of health services for the campus. The Nurse will report to the department administrator.
Status: PRN / Non-Exempt / 10-month / M-F (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM)
Responsibilities:
- Follow a comprehensive program of health services for the campus and provide health services to the students.
- Handle sensitive and/or confidential documents and information where judgment and discretion are essential by maintaining absolute confidentiality.
- Provide direct care utilizing professional assessment skills, the nursing process, and established school health protocols.
- Confer with parents and guardians regarding care of students with medical conditions.
- Confer with principals and teachers regarding student medical needs, restrictions and accommodations.
- Assist with maintaining nursing supplies as needed.
- Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, staff, and Board.
- Maintain and uphold the religious standards of Faith Christian School to include the Lifestyle Statement, Staff Covenant and Statement of Faith.
- Responsible to disciple, instruct and actively pray for the students on our campus.
- Responsible to reinforce a Biblical Worldview in every workplace interaction with both students, staff and faculty.
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public.
- Other duties as assigned that are closely related.
Qualifications:
- Must possess and model a personal authentic relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Must have a high level of discernment and wisdom, and the ability to manage confidential information.
- Registered professional nurse with at least 3 years of experience. Experience in a school is a plus.
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services.
- Certified to administer health screenings or willing to obtain certification.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with the President and Board’s expectations, established school policies and procedures, and the school mission and core values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal and relational skills and the ability to adapt to new technology.
