Intelligent Insertion Operator

Position Summary:

The Intelligent Insertion Operator operates various machinery used in the Fulfillment/Mailing department including but not limited to the Pitney Bowes Mail Stream Evolution, Cutting machines, Kirk Rudy Inkjet, and polybag, etc.

This position will be Monday through Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM.

• Proficient in reading and understanding standard job tickets for mail production of materials and all check sheets and procedures required for the accurate and efficient production of materials for mailing.
• Proficient with the setup and operation of all machines used in the Fulfillment/Mailing department: Pitney Bowes Mail Stream Evolution, and Pitney Bowes Postage Meter.
• May operate the polybag equipment machine, inkjet, Duplo or Heidelberg Cutters.
• Responsible for general oversight and guidance of the machine helper ensuring they know their responsibilities.
• Responsible for observing standards of output, quality checks, proper disposal of PHI, and maintaining an accurate and efficient run throughout an entire job.
• Performs checks at certain checkpoints. Follows company standards when handling confidential protected health information (PHI).
• Understands and learns the various USPS classifications of mail and understands importance of pre-sort. Understanding what types of mail goes in a sack, tub, or letter tray.
• Reads and looks at indicia on the mail to make sure mailing goes in the proper delivery format for mailing.
• Responsible for handling of jobs that require manipulation that cannot be completed via machine (fulfillment activities) including, but not limited to, hand folding, inserting (required to do 3-way quality check), etc.
• Communicates with department managers regarding launch meetings and equipment specifications and specific job information.
• Ensures materials are readily available for jobs by preparing materials needed.
• Works in other departments, as needed.
• Responsible for ensuring that safety procedures in the plant including, but not limited to, Lock-out-tag-out, Hazard Communication, OSHA rules and regulations.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
• Maintains the highest level of security and confidentiality as defined by company policy
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, Printing & Mailing and/or President / CEO.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 2-4 years of experience operating machinery, preferably in a printing environment.
• Good comfort level with machinery and an ability to understand mechanical and computerized adjustments to machine operation and function.
• Ability to stand on feet, move, bend for 12 hours per day.
• Flexibility with scheduling to include some overtime and some short hours as the schedule of work demands.
• 40-hour Pitney Bowes certification.
• Exclusion from the System for Award Management (SAM) List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) prior to hire and ongoing throughout their tenure at the company. Inclusion in the LEIE is grounds for immediate dismissal
• Complete all required training courses upon hire and annually thereafter.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
