Grayson College is seeking to fill a full-time faculty position in the College’s multi-agency regional law enforcement training academy serving the counties of Grayson, Cooke, and Fannin. The successful candidate will teach students in basic, advanced and specialized law enforcement classes. This position instructs in a variety of settings and formats, including hybrids, and occasionally weekend/evenings. Many classes are held outside on the GC Main Campus as well as the College’s West Campus, firearms range, PT room, and in and
around vehicles, etc. This is a 10.5 month full-time faculty position.

 Responsibilities:
  • 65% Teaches at least 15 SCHS of CJLE courses and/or the equivalent in TCOLE clock hours per long semester; meets classes as assigned and provide assistance to students outside of class; Utilizes diverse instructional methodologies based upon proven adult learning principles while presenting and incorporating classroom and practical, scenario-based performance outcome training programs; Promote the growth and development of the cadets through training, mentoring and leading by example; Assists the Director in developing, evaluating, and communicating goals and objectives for the program as they correlate to the goals of the division and the College; and Serves as main administrative contact for ALERRT trainings and School Marshall trainings.
  • 15% Develops and updates curriculum as updated by the State of Texas, participates in college committees and assists in registration, advisement and recruiting of students; Review reports of as required.
  • 10% Works as a team member in the Public Services Department; complies with the "faculty responsibilities" as outlined in the Faculty Handbook and the College's Policy and Procedure Manual; Assists and advises subordinates (part time instructors in the absence of the Director), as necessary, and resolves problems as non-routine situations arise; Build and maintain relationships with local and regional law enforcement agencies to further graduates.
  • 5% Assists with the campus assessment process by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes as directed to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC requirements.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean or Dean of Academic & Workforce Instruction, Department Chair, and/or Director of the Police Academy.

 Qualifications:
  • TCOLE Basic Instructor certification required
  • TCOLE Firearms Instructor certification
  • ALERRT Level 1 Instructor Training
  • Minimum five(5) years of experience in Law Enforcement
  • Prior experience teaching in a law enforcement academy preferred
    (a) An instructor teaching a course must:  (1) hold a valid instructor license; or (2) certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to engage student in the learning process and proven commitment to student success.
  • Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing resultant data, and implementing improvement plans.
  • Excellent computer and multimedia skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
This position requires three professional references. This position is considered a security sensitive position and will require a criminal background check.
