Basic Function: The Inside Sales Associate is responsible for building and supporting customers in their region and networks by serving as first point of contact. Associates need to be able to take customer orders, answer and/or attempt to resolve any issues they may encounter. This individual will be well versed in hand tools, construction trades, B2B sales, engines, parts, power equipment and the dealer programs involved.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures that all customers are assisted in a professional, courteous, reliable, honest and responsive manner.

  • Performs selling techniques on inbound and/or outbound calls.

  • Enters customer orders in a Microsoft business system

  • Works independently to meet sales goals.

  • Manages assigned region to grow top line sales, prospect new customers, and support existing customers.

  • Handles customer complaints and assists with problem situations.

  • Ensures effective communication and implementation of approved plans and programs. 

  • Provides technical support.

  • Ensures that the Power Team department is adequately protected against theft or other suspicious activity.

  • Maintains data and records in a CRM system for timely follow up.

  • Handles confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.

  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. 

  • Helps customers develop and build their business using industry and product knowledge.

  • Coordinates with other departments to collect/update customer information for establishing and maintaining a customer account.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned or apparent.

  • Attends training as directed by GNE.

Secondary Functions:

  • Provide customer feedback to marketing and other members of the sales staff.

  • Support sales department at on-site customer events.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • High School education or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 1 year of related retail, rental, distributor, customer service, sales, or technical experience.

  • Strong people skills with ability to relate to peoples’ needs and concerns while still being able to accomplish the Company’s goals.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • High mechanical aptitude.

  • Must exhibit strong decision-making qualities.

  • Ability to relate well to others and gain the respect of co-workers.

  • Working knowledge and experience with Excel and Word.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of Company personnel and others.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of or experience with small engines, power equipment, contractors and construction equipment.

  • Previous phone sales experience.

  • Familiarity with B2B sales.

  • Experience with a CRM.
