    Position Purpose

    Great Valley School District seeks two full-time High School Mathematics teachers for the 2024-2025 academic year to join a department committed to academic excellence and promoting a joy of mathematics. Successful candidates must embrace student-centered pedagogy, model curiosity and a willingness to grow professionally, and exhibit a desire to build positive and meaningful relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators.




    Essential Performance Responsibilities
    • Creates engaging and rigorous lessons that develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application of skills.
    • Foster an inclusive classroom environment characterized by inquiry, exploration, and student engagement.
    • Administers mathematics curriculum consistent with school district goals, objectives, and instructional framework.
    • Promotes creative thinking, problem solving, and perseverance for all students.
    • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse math learners’ needs, including multi-lingual learners.
    • Creates appropriate enrichment and remediation activities for all students utilizing small group instruction and a centers-based approach.
    • Collaborates with other math teachers and instructional coaches on curriculum planning, best instructional practices, and assessments.
    • Maintains a growth mindset and is committed to ongoing professional development for continuous improvement.
    • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.




    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Familiarity with Illustrative Mathematics or a problem-based resource is preferred but not required.
    • Deep knowledge of current pedagogical practice.
    • Knowledge of a wide range of mathematic subject areas, including arithmetic equations, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, and other related areas.
    • Demonstrate a reflective and solutions-oriented disposition during problem-solving opportunities, collaboration with colleagues, team leaders, and school leadership to improve instructional, cultural, and leadership systems and structures.
    • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
    • Effectively integrates technology into the math classroom to enhance learning. Experience with the following tools recommended but not required; Microsoft Class Notebook, Canvas, and Desmos.
    • Strong organizational, planning and record keeping skills.
    • Positive mindset and drive for personal excellence.
    • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
