Detailed DescriptionDUTIES: Under the supervision of the Crew Chief and Equipment Supervisor, picks up vehicle from designated parking area; drives vehicle through fuel island; checks vehicle for minor defects such as broken mirrors, windshield wipers, lights; notes defect on vehicle cards; drives vehicle through washer; drives vehicle to designated parking area and parks coaches where assigned; maintains records of work activities; shuttles coaches during emergency situation as directed; performs other duties of a similar nature as required.
Job RequirementsMinimum Requirements: Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Applicants must have a valid STATE OF OHIO COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE (CDL) Class A or B with Airbrake and Passenger endorsements or a TEMPORARY CDL, Class A or B" with Airbrake and Passenger endorsements WITH PASSING SCORES FROM THE WRITTEN CDL EXAM. Applicants must have a GOOD DRIVING RECORD, with no more than FOUR (4) POINTS, in the past three years. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Successful candidates will be expected to pass a background check and post-offer physical that is job related and consistent with business necessity.

Environmental Conditions: This person will work predominantly in a bus/rail district environment.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand for up to 8 or more hours a day. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, climb, reach with hands and arms, frequent to continuous driving, sitting, handle or feel, see with normal visual acuity, talk, speak and hear. The employee is required to lift materials up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to monitor a video display terminal.
Mental Demands: Reading, watching, studying, observing, focused listening, auditing, inspecting, proofreading, evaluating. Ability to give, receive and analyze information, prepare written materials. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures and data.
Examination Information: The examination process will consist of three parts: a written examination, performance assessment and/or interview, and record evaluation (for internal candidates only). Candidates must attain a minimum of 70% on all parts of the process, except 60% on the interview portion, to move forward in the process. Candidates that meet the minimum requirements and are selected to continue in the process will be sent an email notification for the written test.
Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for external candidates: Written 70%, Performance 30%. Weights for a final score will be assigned as follows for internal candidates: Written 50%, Performance Assessment 35%, Record Evaluation 15%. All candidates must score a minimum composite score of 70% in order to establish eligibility for the portion. Internal candidates must meet all record evaluation criteria in order to gain the 15% weighting. Records evaluation information includes a review of the following:
5 or more absence occurrences
2 or more AWOL or absence control suspensions
3 or more active written reminders (regardless of the level
5 or more misses (regardless of whether they are active or not active)
4 or more active tardies
Drug or alcohol suspension
Commercial Drivers License (CDL) suspension
Active Decision-Making Leave (DML)
INTERNAL CANDIDATES MUST ALSO SUBMIT A PROPERLY COMPLETED ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATION FOR INTERNAL SELECTION PROCESS FORM (#79-857 REVISED 4/5/2012) ALONG WITH THEIR APPLICATION. All completed eligibility certifications must be submitted no later than the first test associated with the selection process. Any internal candidate to who is at or above the thresholds listed above will not receive the points for their Eligibility Certification.
