Job Summary:
Greater Purpose is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Technician to join our cannabis manufacturing team in New Jersey. The Technician will assist in the production of high-quality cannabis-infused products, that may include edibles, vapes, tinctures, topicals, and pre-rolled joints and more.. This role involves various production tasks, focusing on packaging, quality control, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support:
- Weigh, combine, portion, and dispense product components such as raw materials, and excipients to form finished products.
- Operate downstream machinery including final packaging equipment associated with, but not limited to, heating, diluting, mixing, cooking, dispensing, encapsulation, compression, packaging, labeling, and storing.
- Cleaning and sanitization processes.
- Sample preparations and logging for analytical testing.
- Participate in commissioning and training on new process equipment as product lines expand or change.
- Maintain final packaging and facility spaces in a clean and hygienic state in accordance with SOPs and training.
- Perform safety inspections of filling and final packaging equipment in accordance with SOPs and training.
Quality Control:
- Perform minor equipment and facility maintenance activities.
- Perform routine quality actions per SOPs.
- Record data in notebooks, computer databases, and test reports.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to New Jersey state cannabis regulations and company policies and procedures.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols.
- Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with CRC & OSHA guidelines.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to the creation of and revision to Manufacturing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Utilize seed-to-sale software (METRC) and other computer systems to track detailed, regulated material identification, labeling, location, and inventory levels.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Interpret and follow complex written, verbal, and technical instructions.
- Learn complex technical procedures in a timely manner.
- May help in other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- ServSafe Food Handler’s card or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a production environment, preferably in the cannabis industry.
- Familiarity with standard production practices.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow SOPs and safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and innovative with keen judgment, common sense, and resourcefulness.
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all employees.
- Desired experience:
- Flourish Software & METRC.
- Commercial production experience with: gummy, vaporizers, pre-roll joints, cream, food, tinctures, or similar.
State eligibility requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire.
- Must pass a New Jersey state background check and be properly badged per state cannabis program requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and perform repetitive tasks for long periods.
- Capability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs).
- Comfortable working in a production work environment with potential exposure to various conditions; examples including but not limited to temperature changes by functions or loud noises.
