Job Title: Telephone Triage Nurse


The Telephone Triage Nurse collects information from a patient or a caregiver of a patient, over the phone so there is no opportunity for a visual assessment. This requires strong communication skills, an ability to critically think, use evidence-based resources to obtain a history of the concern and then, use the information collected to establish the most appropriate plan of care. This nurse will provide telephone triage to all age groups. The Telephone Triage Nurse is the clinical support for the Call Center.

Your role and responsibilities

Ability to connect to patients and/or their caregivers in a manner that builds trust in the nurse’s judgement

Sometimes decisions on a plan of care will need to be made quickly, under stressful conditions

Make independent decisions with evidence-based guidelines as a guide

Be a resource to the Call Center staff (non-medical) for urgent triage calls

Work collaboratively with all members of the clinical staff and Providers

Whenever it is appropriate for the patient to be seen in the setting of GSCH, make the effort to find an appointment in the appropriate time line determined by your assessment

Qualifications / what you need

License: LPN or RN

Experience:

At least 2 years’ experience in an ambulatory care setting. Prior telephone triage experience is very helpful.

Experience with electronic health records a plus.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Hours per week: 20 hours

Pay: Commensurate with experience.

Benefits

All regularly scheduled employees working at least 32 hours per week are eligible to receive full benefits; those working 24-31 hours per week will receive prorated benefits. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:
