What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Instructor position at Greater Somerset County YMCA?
Description
- Maintains a safe, instructional, and supportive environment
- Teaches students the principles of correct stroke, water safety, and swimming endurance
- Teaches group classes to preschool and school aged children
- Develops appropriate introduction to a variety of water sports/activities
- Arrives to work five (5) minutes before shift starts
- Wear appropriate and professional uniform/attire
- All other duties as assigned
- YSL and/or WSI certification (obtain upon hire)
- Blood borne Pathogens Training within 60 days of hire
- SH YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire
- SH YMCA New Staff Orientation Training within 90 days of hire
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Must have experience working with children
- Must have strong interest in teaching preschool and school aged children
- Experience with parent/child classes or willing to learn is a plus
- Must have First Aid and CPR/AED Certification (or obtain upon hire)
