Position: Housekeeping Associate (Part-Time)
Employment Type: Part-Time (25 hours per week)
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards across our facility. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health, dignity, and well-being of guests by ensuring all common areas, restrooms, sleeping areas, and laundry operations are properly maintained. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all common areas, offices, hallways, bathrooms, showers, and dining spaces.
- Maintain cleanliness of guest sleeping areas in accordance with shelter policies.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly.
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and cleaning products.
- Remove trash and recycling from all areas.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols.
- Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to supervisory staff.
- Support additional cleaning needs related to guest transitions or inspections.
- Sweep, mop, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
- Perform routine floor care including vacuuming and spot cleaning.
- Conduct occasional floor buffing and deep-cleaning as scheduled or directed by supervision
- Operate washers and dryers safely and properly.
- Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens, towels, bedding, and shelter-issued items.
- Maintain a clean and organized laundry area.
- Track linen inventory and report damaged or missing items.
- Follow procedures for handling soiled or contaminated laundry.
- Ensure timely turnaround of linens to meet shelter needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior housekeeping or laundry experience preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Sensitivity to individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or custodial services is preferred
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning techniques and floor care is advantageous
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment and supplies used in commercial or industrial settings
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks including lifting and folding.
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals (PPE provided).
Work Environment
- Shelter setting serving adults experiencing homelessness.
- Regular interaction with guests and staff.
- Exposure to cleaning agents and laundry equipment.

Schedule & Hours
This is a part-time position scheduled for 20-25 hours per week. The typical schedule consists of 4–5 shifts per week (Mon-Fri), with daily shifts ranging from 4–6 hours. Hours may vary slightly based on operational needs, inspections, or periodic deep-cleaning activities, including occasional floor buffing.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
