Job Description
Our AFH Care Givers provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), which vary based on the individual. They seek to create a safe, loving, home-like environment, consistent with the principle of normalization and based upon the individual developmental needs and personalities of the Residents residing in the home. Activities of Daily Living, Behavior Support Plans, and Individual Support Plans are crafted by the compliance team who work with the AFH Care Givers to ensure that the proper care is being provided and that the team feels supported and informed.

Duties and Responsibilities
∙ Assist in appropriate skills of daily living, personal hygiene, and chore assignment
∙ Accompany Residents to doctor’s appointments and emergency response
∙ Facilitate and model the use of a variety of leisure time activities
∙ Ensure that the home is clean and in good order, including but not limited to: washing dishes, emptying trash, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping and mopping, washing laundry, snow removal, deep cleaning, equipment upkeep, and all other duties as necessary
∙ Communicate in a timely and effective manner with the Administrator / Manager
∙ Complete all required paperwork and chart all cares in our ECP software
∙ Remain awake through the shift assigned and can answer calls to assist Residents whenever appropriate (especially third shift)
∙ Provide dedicated 1:1 line of sight care (when applicable)
∙ Follow the menu selections as directed and prepare or assist in meal and snack preparation
∙ Attend mandatory monthly staff meetings and optional in-services
∙ Attend all State and company mandated training as scheduled
∙ Complete all tasks as assigned in keeping with the general duties of the job description
∙ Any other duties as assigned by the Administrator to maintain the house and resident safety

Required Qualifications
o If Certified Nursing Assistant, must keep license current
o CBRF / AFH Certification is required for all employees. *If the employee is not a CBRF / AFH Care Giver, we will provide training for the certification which includes : medication administration, standard precautions, fire safety, first aid & CPR, dietary, Resident Rights, Needs Assessment/ISP, Challenging Behaviors and Resident Specific Needs. To maintain your license, you must complete 10 hours of annual continuing education training that has been approved by the licensing agency related to the health, safety and welfare of residents, resident’s rights, and treatment appropriate to the residents being served
o Negative TB Skin Test and free of communicable diseases with a physical screening signed by a MD/NP/RN
o Able to pass a background check
o Have the capacity to successfully provide care for 1-4 unrelated adult residents
o Have the ability to serve as a positive role model and provide effective direction and supervision
o Have the ability to establish and maintain effective and rewarding working relationships with the public, residents, and other staff
o Be an effective communicator, both orally and written
o Have the ability to recognize potentially hazardous situations and take immediate appropriate actions
o Must display good work habits and a maintain a suitable workplace for essential job safety and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
✔ A high school diploma or GED equivalency
✔ 2 years of post-high school work experience working with adults providing care and/or services
✔ Working knowledge of the operations and purpose of an adult family home and also with the related care, treatment, administration of medications and security protocols used in a facility of this nature
✔ Have working knowledge of rules and regulations governing the delivery of care
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
