Welder Fabricator

Brief Description

Perform various fabrication and welding tasks. Support production with specialized tasks and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of parts and components per work instructions.
  • Fabrication of parts and brackets as required using diagrams and / or engineering drawings.
  • Follow oral and written task directives.
  • Troubleshoot and assist with corrective measures as needed due to engineering or design issues.
  • Self-inspect continually during work shift; analyze and offer suggestions for progressive improvement.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
  • Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Operate and preventively maintain warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  • Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Up to 2 to 4 years of welding experience.
  • Tape measurement and blueprint skills a must.
  • Fabrication experience / certification preferred.
  • Highly skilled in Mig / Tig application (Ferrous and alloy metals. Must have experience with stainless steel & aluminum).
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in the proper use of cutting (Plasma, acetylene torch, shear) equipment.
  • Skilled in reading comprehension, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal work instructions.
  • Skilled in the operation of basic hand tools, shop tools and equipment. Competency in the use of measuring devices to stay within required tolerances.
  • Highly skilled and mechanically inclined. Ability to learn processes quickly, adapt to process changes and implement those changes.
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing processes and related machinery.
  • Ability to keep a clean and safe working environment.
  • Welding Certification is a plus.
  • Manufacturing and / or automotive experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug screening.

    • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and crawl.
  • Regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs.; frequently lift and move up to 30 lbs.; occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to see and adjust visual focus both up-close and at a distance; position requires peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to see and distinguish colors.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

    • Work Environment

  • Exposure to high-levels of noise.
  • May be exposed to caustic fluids and fumes.
  • Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to : eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots and hardhats.
  • Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
  • Position may operate a motor vehicle and may work outdoors.

    Compensation and Benefits :

    Compensation for this position will be in the range of $18 to $20 per hour. Qualified candidates will generally work a 40-hour work week, working four, 10-hour shifts. GreenPower offers benefits including health / dental / vision / prescription drug plan, flexible benefits plan, 401(K) retirement savings plan, life and disability benefits, paid holidays, paid vacation and tuition reimbursement.
