What are the responsibilities and job description for the Open Doors Case Manager position at Green River College?
The Case Manager – Open Doors, performs a variety of duties to ensure that eligible students are served from initial interest in the program to achievement of the academic goals or the student is transitioned to another academic program and/or career opportunity. This position works directly with students to determine eligibility, support their enrollment in the program, and provide strong connections to our school district and community partners. This position will work on college initiatives regarding student enrollment, retention, and completion and has a deep connection to our work regarding diversity and inclusive practices.
Open Doors students are 16-21 years old. They are significantly credit deficient and/or at risk for not completing their high school diploma with their original cohort. Green River College has partnership agreements with Auburn, Tahoma, and Kent School Districts. Eligible students have the ability to pursue coursework to prepare for the GED® test or dual-credit coursework for high school diploma and/or college degree or certificate. Green River's Open Doors program provides its students with strong wrap-around support services as needed for academic, career, and personal success.

- Advise students for academic goal completion
- Assist students through academic advising and registration appointments
- Maintain meaningful weekly contact with students
- Conduct new student orientation
- Provide additional meetings and support for students on Academic Caution/probation status
- Connect students to wrap-around student support services and referrals for both on campus and off campus resources, such as food banks, mental health services, housing needs, and public health
- Assist students FAFSA/WASFA applications, resumes, and career exploration
- Complete transcript evaluation and related documents
- Evaluate student assessments
- Monitor student academic progress for academic goal completion and to maintain program eligibility
- Collaborate with School District Partner
- Conduct New Student Workshops, Orientations, and Information Sessions
- Build and maintain community based partnerships
- Collect, summarize, and analyze data for internal and external reports
- Create and maintain partnerships with key community based organization
- Represent Green River College Open Doors Program at local events
- Remain up-to-date on statewide program changes for student eligibility and compliance
- Assist in the hiring and training of students for our Peer Mentor program
- Manage and distribute GED test voucher (readiness and eligibility)
- Work as part of a cross-functional team to further program development and student success
