TITLE: Instructional Assistant (Preschool-4th Grade)
DEPARTMENT: Student Academic Services
JOB TYPE: 10-Month Contract, Part-Time (Up to 29 Hours Per Week)
REPORTS TO: Student Academic Director
WORK SCHEDULE: Academic Year Per Contract
POSITION OBJECTIVE: The major responsibility of this role is to consistently teach and model what it means to think in a Christ-like way before his/her students and additionally, provide instructional support to the Lower School Teachers. This will be completed through a Biblical worldview to guide the students into becoming developed, mature and responsible believers to the glory of God.
QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS: The employee is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life with a calling and commitment to Christian education. Must be able to work independently, multi-task, deal with frequent interruptions, and nurture and maintain a positive relationship with parents, students, and colleagues. A high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality must be maintained when dealing with student and staff information. The ability to prioritize workload and meet specified deadlines is critical. EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a high school diploma or GED, equivalency of Associate's Degree or (2) years' experience in a similar setting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with teachers and provides instructional support as needed
- Supports and maintains classroom policies and monitoring students
- Assists in scoring a variety of tests according to student performance and behavior
- Prepares materials and operates classroom/office equipment
- Provides support to the teacher by setting up classroom work areas, exhibits, and displays
- Supervises students during lunch, recess, bathroom breaks, hallways, field trips, and carline as assigned
- Supports students by providing proper example, emotional support, and general guidance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Indoors 90% of the time; must be able to remain stationary for long periods of time while working with a PC, and must be able to move supplies, copier paper, up to 35 pounds. Must be able to assist children for health and safety reasons.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to the elements when crossing campus. Change in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise, using computer/monitor screen; Average classroom with exterior windows.
