What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Department Clerk II position at Gregg County?
Duties
- Answer calls from public & assist / refer to appropriate agency for assistance.
- May Interview potential clients for medical assistance and other related county benefits, explain program services, requirements and methods to applicants.
- Prepares vouchers, requisitions for purchase orders & other paperwork for process payments for medical providers, utility bills & other services.
- Prepares correspondence, provide clerical support for Nursing & Staff, builds Medical & Social Charts.
- Performs Client data & Medical data entry, assists with medical claims processing.
- Describes other community resources available to clients and makes referrals as needed.
- Ability to be certified as a Public Notary.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalency; College Degree, or Licensed SOCIALWORKER.
- Experience in social services/ medical office related work preferred. Course work in a social work or related medical field, education and experience may be substituted for one another.
- Knowledge of counseling techniques, interviewing techniques, and community resources preferred. Ability to make decisions & administrative changes as required.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, and or State Indigent Health Care Guidelines.
- Ability to work & network with other agencies to find appropriate and other solutions to issues
- Ability to communicate effectively written and oral, Bi-lingual is a plus
- Computer literacy and good clerical skills required, ability to multitask is an asset.
- Ability to follow Department Directors/Supervisors, CIHCP Coordinator’s, instructions.

Pay: $16.32 - $17.78 per hour
