Description
Position Title: Accountant
Department: Finance
Position reports to: Sr. Accounting Manager
Primary purpose and function of position:
The position supports the day-to-day operations of the finance department. Responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month-end financial close responsibilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with collection of accounts receivable
- Post payments and credit memos to customer accounts
- Review accounts receivable aging report, contact delinquent accounts to resolve unpaid balances
- Review, code and enter invoices into the accounts payables system; ensure all appropriate documentation and approvals have been received
- Review accounts receivable and accounts payable emails, process activity as required
- Investigate and resolve customer/supplier/vendor inquiries
- Assist with answering incoming calls
- Support processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
- Perform month-end financial close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
- Assist with cash transactions and monthly bank reconciliations
- Download credit card statements, circulate to cardholders and ensure proper support is received for all expenses
- Prepare and submit monthly liquor control reports
- Prepare monthly invoices for promotions, samples, donations, etc.
- Manage the retention of documents by electronic scanning and filing
- Ensure records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred; High school diploma or GED certificate required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Proficient computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to analyze financial data
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude, strong initiative and follow-through
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
