What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bending Operator position at GRI Towers Texas, Inc.?
General Description / Objective
Sets up and operates machine to bend metal structural shapes, for example bars, rods, angles, pipes, and tubes, to angle or contour specified by work order, drawings, templates, or layout: Selects and bolts holding clamp, die block, and guide clamp to machine.
Roles and Tasks
· Interpret drawings and execute the trace part, preparing the surfaces and sides to be bent.
· Bending the metal sheet, per work instructions.
· Collect data from the plate and register them in the roadmap and in the SAP system in order to ensure traceability of the process.
· Operate the bending machine, triggering command devices and monitoring its operation.
· Using the template for each dimension of the can, in order to obtain precision in operations.
· Align the edges of the plate by applying MIG welding points, in order to complete the welding operation.
· Apply external welding on plate to ensure the consistency of the process.
· Perform tack-welding and root pass. Cleaning (grinding) after root-pass.
· Identify the processed cans, making pertinent records in order to carry it to the operations sequence
· Transport material with the help of a crane.
· Ensure the quality of processed products according to the standards of control.
· Optimize the means and tools placed at their disposal.
· Avoid unnecessary downtime in the process; ensuring productivity and daily targets are achieved.
· Attend training program when called.
· Perform other tasks consistent with the requirements for the exercise of the function.
· Perform other tasks requested by the supervisor in the area.
· Respect Safety Standards and use of PPE.
· Clock-in and clock-out (mark attendance with the punch card) at the beginning and at the end of the shift.
· Clock in and out of operations in SAP.
· Carry out activities related to 5S in the area.

Profile / Professional Competencies / Job Requirements
Education Requirements:
· High School or equivalent (GED), or
· Elementary education plus minimum experience required.
Specific Knowledge:
· Knowledge of at least one of the following: Operating machinery; Enablement crane and forklift; standards and safety procedures; standard operating procedures.
Languages:
· Able to communicate and/or to read and understand instructions in English
IT / Technical Knowledge:
· Basic computer knowledge
Minimum Experience Required:
· Six months on manufacturing, assembly or industrial process.
Internal Candidates and/or Employees from other GRI factories, are considered competent for this job if they have at least 2 years of experience on similar processes.
