Job Title: CNC Setup and Machine OperatorJob Summary:
We are looking for an experienced CNC Setup and Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves both setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC machines (including lathes and/or mills) according to production specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and job instructions in English.
- Install and align tooling, fixtures, and machine attachments during setup.
- Perform first-article inspections and adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor machining processes and conduct frequent in-process inspections to maintain accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic machine or tooling issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in CNC machine setup and operation is required.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining practices, tooling, and standard machining operations.
- Familiarity with turning and/or milling equipment.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Basic understanding of G-code is a plus, but not required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations and measurements.
- Effective communication skills in English to interact with supervisors and team members.
- Capable of identifying and correcting minor machining errors or inconsistencies.
- Good visual and auditory acuity required for inspections and machine monitoring.
Work Environment:
- Industrial machine shop environment with exposure to oils, solvents, and chemicals.
- Climate-controlled facility (air-conditioned and heated), though equipment does not require air conditioning to operate.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle long steel bars (up to 12 feet).
- Occasional pushing and pulling of heavy materials or equipment.
