What are the responsibilities and job description for the Industrial Mechanic position at Groome Industrial Service Group?
GROOME INDUSTRIAL SERVICE GROUP is a growing company in Denville, NJ, providing specialty maintenance services nationwide for several industries including natural gas-fired power generation, refinery, shipping, manufacturing, and aviation.
The Mechanic position requires the ability to complete mechanical tasks necessary to perform preventive maintenance and installation work.
Responsibilities include:
The Mechanic position requires a willingness to learn and perform a variety of trades and specialty skills in the hangar door sector. This will include, but not limited to:
- General construction labor as in demolition and installation of steel structures and general building materials.
- General mechanical work such as maintenance, repair, and replacement of motors, gears, and associated parts.
- Training as a Millwright apprentice in the practices of welding, cutting, burning, grinding, and drilling.
- Training on the operation of equipment such as washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, aerial lifts, standard and reach fork trucks.
Possible out of state work for indeterminate times, traveling by air or by car, including hotel stays.
Various hours may include weekends. Must be willing to be available 24/7.
Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift 25/50/80 pounds regularly
- The ability to respond quickly to sounds
- The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- The ability to safely climb ladders
- The ability to work in extreme weather
- The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day
