About The Role

In this role, you will provide vital support to 2 attorneys by managing case files, drafting documents, coordinating schedules, and more, helping attorneys stay organized and prepared, ensuring that no detail goes unnoticed.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze new case files to gain a thorough understanding of case details and statuses, determine documents required for drafting, and identify upcoming events and their accompanying deadlines
  • Cross-check dockets to review all filings in a case, verifying the presence of complaints, discovery, or other documents that may need to be addressed, and determine what additional documents should be drafted
  • Draft and merge pleadings, discovery requests and responses, certificates of service, and related documents
  • Review merged documents for accuracy, ensuring all critical information is correct, including date of loss, claim numbers, adjuster details, and the proper identification of plaintiffs and defendants
  • Prepare and send confirmation letters to adjusters and clients to acknowledge receipt of the case and provide information on the assigned case handler(s)
  • Continuously and frequently review claim files to identify medical records or non-party requests needed for the case and collaborate with Medical Records Paralegals to obtain those records
  • Diligently monitor all case deadlines to ensure completion of required tasks and timely submissions
  • Summarize discovery responses and perform a secondary review to identify any additional non-party requests that should be obtained
  • Schedule depositions and mediations by coordinating with multiple parties, including opposing counsel, clients, adjusters, and court reporters, ensuring all necessary individuals are informed and available
  • Continuously monitor trial calendars to confirm if cases have been added, enabling attorneys to begin timely trial preparation
  • Prepare and send client letters regularly to communicate key case milestones, such as the filing of an answer or other significant developments
  • File documents on behalf of attorneys into the court docket via PeachCourt and Odyssey, ensuring all details, such as dates and signatures, are accurate
  • Close case files by following up with plaintiffs’ attorneys to obtain necessary documents, and drafting and sending settlement letters to adjusters, confirming cases have been resolved


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • ~1 - 2 years of experience as a paralegal within a litigation or insurance defense adjacent firm, legal assistant or case manager within a litigation firm, auto insurance claims representative, or similar role(s)
  • Working knowledge of litigation terminology and procedures
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Impeccable time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong ability to identify gaps and actual or potential issues
  • Excellent communication and professionalism
  • Ability to fluently move between systems and master new technology
  • Ability to manage a variety of tasks concurrently
