Grundfos is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join its Domestic Building Services team. The 2nd shift Production Supervisor will be responsible for organizing and carrying out the production of GMU’s products in the designated department and shift. The Supervisor is responsible for the successful implementation of programs to improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, cost reduction, and employee development. This position is responsible for developing and implementing company-wide policies and procedures in conjunction with other department managers. This position calls for a high level of leadership and the accompanying skills. This position reports directly to the APU Manager/Plant Director and will operate daily out of the Fresno, CA facility. Relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have authorization to work in the USA without support.
What is the job about?
- Create a safe working environment and ensure through on-going training that employees actively place safety as their highest priority.
- Develop and work with others to create ways of improving product quality. Ensure each employee is fully trained and performs all work according to work and control instructions. Define work standards with the help of support functions.
- Monitor competencies for team and develop its autonomy through training plan building, follow-up & training actions implementation.
- Organize and staff production to meet the forecasted sales and inventory targets on-time. Validate capacity of APUs.
- Be accountable for SQCDM performance and profitability of APU, in terms of targets achievement, and improvement.
- Develop and implement changes to reduce production costs.
- Develop employees through onboarding, performance reviews, the Employee Career Development Program, and other means.
- Establish work practices that minimize the environmental impact of the processes associated with the department, reduce the consumption of resources, and reduce the waste stream.
- Lead daily, weekly & monthly meetings.
- Champion 5S activities to maintain and upgrade the orderliness and cleanliness of the plant.
- Develop and implement an appropriate preventive maintenance system to minimize equipment downtime and to maintain quality.
- Communicate a mindset of continuous improvement & inside the APU.
- Assign & check corrective actions on recurring problems within APU .
- Conduct regularly scheduled employee group meetings to communicate company goals, results, and happenings.
- Lead DAM meetings & review action plans to improve SQCDM performance (actual and targets).
- Lead workstation ergonomics risk analysis and elimination.
- Responsible for developing the action plans for (EMS) employee motivation and satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and/or company policies, procedures, and practices.
What do you need to apply?
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Industrial Technology/Materials Management preferred. Two years of experience in supervision and management in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in reducing accidents.
- Success in applying JIT, Kanban, and other materials management concepts to reduce inventory and cycle times.
- Success in applying SPC, DOE, and other quality tools to reduce process variability and product quality issues.
- Experience in leading in a Business Excellence environment and the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge in new situations.
- Understand basic general accounting as it relates to income statements and budgeting; understand cost accounting as it applies to product costs.
- Be an accomplished communicator on both a group and individual basis both verbally and in writing.
- Be adept at working with all levels of the organization as both a team leader and as a team member.
- Understand technical issues to the extent that production problems can be understood, addressed, and solved.
- Be committed to training employees in both the hard and soft skills and have the ability to help employees determine and pursue a career development plan.
- Ability to work in factory environment.
- Prefer experience with both SAP and MS Office.
- Prior demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams.
