WORK LOCATION: Seguin, Texas
SUMMARY
The SCADA Technician is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and installation of GBRA’s SCADA system. This position provides technical analyses in order to provide solutions for software and hardware, understands communication failures by using various diagnostic tools, and stabilizes SCADA systems and network operations. This position is directly responsible for support of GBRA’s operating divisions, focusing on maintaining, troubleshooting and modifying SCADA systems to ensure operational performance of devices and programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain, troubleshoot and modify hardware and software for SCADA systems, including PLC based control systems, HMI components, and industrial networks.
· Act as first level support for GBRA’s operating divisions. Appropriately escalate downtime situations for support to restore operations.
· Documenting work and maintaining change control procedures.
· Creating and maintaining scripts as needed to perform special functions or automated reports.
· Monitor usage and inventory levels of systems components to ensure availability of adequate spares.
· Maintain backups of all system software and programs.
· Keep current on changes, trends and developments in the control systems industry.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
· Ability to interpret drawings both mechanical and electrical
· Self-starter who can work under limited supervision
· Ability to communicate technical subjects to GBRA employees who have little or no background and/or experience in control systems
· Reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills
· Ability to execute project tasks assigned
· Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, modify and program PLC components
· Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, modify and program HMI components
· Ability to identify, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify control network components
· Ability to operate a small bucket truck
· Knowledge of Ethernet and serial networks
· Proficiency in the use of laptop computers, multi-meters, and other calibration equipment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in instrumentation, electronics or industrial fields, or Technical Certification from an institution accredited by a national recognized accrediting agency or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, but not required. Experience may be substituted in lieu of educational preference.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum two years increasingly responsible experience in maintaining, troubleshooting and programming SCADA systems.

Persons in this position will travel throughout the 10-county service area. Work is mostly indoors but some outdoor work is required and is performed at electrical power plants, pump stations, lift stations, water distribution sites, and water and wastewater treatment plants. Persons in this position are subject to call at any time and under all weather conditions, and may be required to work long hours during emergencies.
