Job Title: Veterinary Dermatology Assistant

Job Type: Full Time

Shift and Schedule: 4-day work week, Wed-Sat alternating with Tues-Fri, some flexibility in specific hours

Guardian Veterinary Specialists is an independently owned, full-service 24/7 emergency and specialty care veterinary hospital in Brewster, NY. We are currently seeking a veterinary dermatology assistant to join our growing service. In addition to seeing appointments, the service provides a number of advanced procedures. This is a great opportunity to experience specialty medicine and learn new skills in a low stress environment with a consistent schedule. As a part of a smaller service, you would be an integral part of the growth and development of the department.

Job duties:

• Patient restraint
• Review and summarize history for appointments prior to the visit
• Collect history information for appointments
• Review patient discharges with clients
• Review test results with clients over the phone
• Prepare, stain and interpret cytology samples
• Set up and assist with advanced dermatologic procedures such as skin biopsies, intradermal allergy testing, video otoscopy, and CO2 laser surgery
• Assisting technician with sedation and anesthesia of patients
• Prepare specific allergen therapy serum for patients
• Other tasks as needed
