Mountain Bike Instructor - Giants Ridge

JOB SUMMARY

Assists with the planning of mountain bike programs designed for the mountain bike guests at Giants Ridge. Supervises participants and ensures their safety and well-being. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with participants, families, and supervisors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assists the Recreation Program Director with planning, facilitating and leading a variety of cycling: activities; games; lessons; and rides.
• Ensures the enjoyment and safety of all participants by maintaining the program site, implementing safe practices and leading well organized activities.
• Uses creativity and ingenuity to develop a variety of activities, games, lessons, and ride routes.
• Reports on the results of planned activities, and operational concerns.
• Ensure that daily programs meet the general needs of participants, by making any reasonable accommodations specific to guests as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as required.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• Excellent technical skill sets: cycling and or mountain biking.
• Demonstrates leadership abilities; and the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Participates in on-going job specific trainings including safety trainings.
• PMBIA, NCCP or similar cycling specific training, preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• 
  Ability to maintain a high degree of enthusiasm and personal motivation.
• Ability to walk/bike mountain terrain for up to 8 hours in variable conditions.
• Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 25 lbs. regularly, 30-35 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise moves in a constantly changing environment.
