Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) - Community Focus

Guided By Goats Inc. is a nonprofit organization based in Cheshire CT. Our mission is to provide families of all abilities with the confidence to enjoy their community through learning, play, and nature-based activities.

Currently we are seeking 1-2 Registered Behavior Techs (RBT) to join or team to work in our clinic, theurepeutic farm setting, and in home with families utilizing ABA strategies to help fulfil the mission goals. On top of this, we host play groups and classes for children at our small farm to help build social skills and play skills with nature based activities.

Summary of Duties

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)/Behavior technician (BT) is primarily responsible for providing direct care to the individuals that GBG serves. The RBT/BT is directly accountable for the consistent implementation of the interventions laid out in classroom/individual behavior support plans (BSP). The RBT/BT will work closely with supervisory and other staff to ensure that the client/student is able to achieve the behavior goals set forth in the BSP. The RBT/BT will work to provide the highest quality client/student services possible by the organization using any obtainable resources.

Fundamental Responsibilities

• Directly implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans consistently.
• Collect accurate data for all behavior programs.
• Serve in a direct support role, behaviorally and educationally, and consult the supervising behaviorist regularly for additional support.
• Meet regularly with the supervisory staff to address any program changes, further training, and/or for in-situ supervision.
• Adjust interventions or methods as instructed by one’s supervisor.
• Be responsible for maintaining thorough knowledge and understanding of each intervention in place for every individual on his/her caseload at all times.
• Regularly review treatment plans for all individuals to ensure treatment integrity.
• Maintain all forms of documentation as directed by supervisory staff
• Maintain RBT credentialing. If not certified upon hire, by signing your employment contract you are agreeing to complete the certification within the first 6 months of employment.
• Arrive on time to work, prepared to do all aspects of your job for the duration of the shift.
• Ensuring there will be no personal contact with client families that is not first approved by one’s supervisor (separate from parent training as part of one’s session work for in-home work).

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or national equivalent.
• Completion of 40 hour training, based on the RBT Task List.
• Ability to pass the RBT Competency Assessment within 6 months of hire, if necessary.
• Successfully complete criminal background check and sexual registry check.
• Exhibit excellent public, employee, client and agency relation skills.
• Demonstrates excellent client service under challenging conditions.
• Ability to take constructive criticism on performance as given by supervisors.
• History of making reliable decisions and effectively communicating with others.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour
