Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities:

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing care for animals
- Handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
- Prepare and sanitize examination rooms and surgical areas
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform routine laboratory tests and collect samples for analysis
- Provide assistance with radiographs and other diagnostic imaging procedures
- Maintain accurate records of patient care, treatments, and procedures
- Clean and maintain kennels, cages, and other animal housing areas
- Monitor patients before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition

Experience:

- Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and animal husbandry practices is beneficial

Skills:

- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary staff
- Ability to handle animals with care and compassion while ensuring their safety
- Attention to detail to accurately record information and follow instructions
- Physical stamina to lift or restrain animals of various sizes and perform tasks that require bending or kneeling
