Position Description
The Pipeline Engineer is expected to be able to perform routine engineering functions with little supervision. Work is reviewed by a senior level engineer for accomplishment of objectives.
Essential Functions
- Assists in typical pipeline engineering calculations.
- Participate in Routing, ROW and Workspace selection; studies on construction techniques and economic feasibility studies.
- Familiarity with FERC filing process; Class location study, spacing and location of MLVs for Gas and Liquid Pipelines; design of MLV; Launcher and Receiver; Tie-in and other Pipeline facilities design.
- Assists in the preparation of requisitions for inquiry in support of purchasing equipment and materials.
- Prepares technical bid evaluations for equipment, materials, bulk material and subcontracts in cooperation with Procurement Department.
- Reviews alignment sheets, all permit drawings and plats; assists in pipe tally.
- Familiar with industry practices and permitting requirements for pipeline design and construction.
- Accepts both short and extended term assignments to the site, client’s office, etc. as may be requested by the Chief Pipeline Engineer.
- Develop and foster a good working relationship with current and future clients.
Qualifications
- Typically 2 - 6 years of experience in engineering.
- Knowledge of computer systems in an engineering environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of GIS is an asset.
Education
- BS in Engineering
- EIT Certification is preferred
