Position Summary:
The Sportsbook Writer will be responsible for providing friendly, efficient, “Unsurpassed Service” to our internal and external Guests in the Sportsbook area. Observe and safeguard the assets of the company. Perform responsibilities in accordance with all Company standards, policies, and procedures.

In this Role:
- Responsible for practicing, supporting, and promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort's “Unsurpassed Service” standards at all times.
- Input betting information into the computer and print tickets.
- Responsible for the collection of accurate cash from sportsbook ticket sales and control of cash bank(s) assigned.
- Provide accurate cash payout to winning sportsbook ticket holders. Ensure receipt and recording of all cash transactions.
- Explain wagering information when needed.
- Accurately maintain bank.
- Follow all Responsible Gaming Guidelines. For example, self-exclusion requests and checking identification for individuals who appear under 30 years old.
- Follow all procedures and policies to ensure that duties are performed within accepted standards established by Casino Management and Regulatory requirements.
- Handle Guest opportunities in a positive professional manner.
- Have a keen awareness of the surroundings in the casino while helping to maintain the cleanliness of the building.
- Work with management on Guest needs that may require special accommodations.
- Understand and be aware of the Rewards Program to sign Guests up and champion the benefits of the program.
- Keep work areas and casino floor neat, clean, and safe.
- Ability to have clear, friendly, and positive communication with internal and external Guests.
- Be aware of and updated on all upcoming events and promotions.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Six (6) months of cash handling experience required.
- Sportswriter experience preferred.
- Must be mathematically inclined and pass a math test.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal forms.
- Maintain positive and effective working relationships with Team Members and Guests.
- Ability to effectively utilize electronic equipment, devices, and computer software programs.
- Thorough understanding of Title 31 requirements, including but not limited to, all unacceptable currency transactions, logging requirements, MTLs and CTRs.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, which includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license with the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission.
- Understand and practice service standards and core values.
- Understand and comply with all company and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and lift items weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
- Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment such as a computer keyboard, currency counter, calculator, telephone, handheld radio, machine locks, and small tools.
- Follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold and/or noisy and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a non-sitting position. Team Members will be required to stand, walk, lift, reach, push, pull and grasp. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.
