Job Description:

The Business Analyst (BA) will join a global team of Business Analysts supporting the Energy business line, with a focus on the Natural Gas (Natgas) trading desk. Based in Houston, the BA will report to the Product Owner overseeing the Power and Natgas stream (i.e., Senior BAs) and serve as a key liaison between the business and IT. The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis, design, and maintenance of front-to-back modules within the internal ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) platform, as well as associated integrated systems and features. The role also involves second-level production support and process improvement initiatives.

Main Responsibilities

Business Analysis

• Deliver a high standard of service to business users, with a strong customer satisfaction and hypercare mindset.
• Support the Product Owner in prioritizing features and resolving issues across the Front-to-Back landscape (enhancements, upgrades, bug fixes, interfaces, etc.).
• Gather, analyze, and document requirements from cross-functional business units.
• Design and propose solutions (both ETRM-native , interface and external/reporting) in alignment with business needs.
• Collaborate with developers and testers in an Agile delivery environment (Scrum/Kanban)
• Work across global teams to ensure consistent integration and delivery.
• Maintain a well-defined and prioritized product backlog (User Stories, Epics, Change Management).
• Provide second-level support and escalate production issues appropriately.
  
  
  

Day-to-Day & Monthly Activities

• Handle escalations from the local Natgas desk and other business units.
• Train 1st-level support on new releases and support tools.
• Participate in daily Agile ceremonies and team stand-ups.
• Maintain accurate documentation and specifications (e.g., in Azure DevOps).
• Partner with QA to ensure test coverage and high-quality delivery.
• Deliver quick wins to the business (e.g., via Power BI dashboards or ad-hoc reports).
  
  
  

Profile/Key Skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
• Self-motivated, autonomous, and solution-oriented.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in an ETRM/CTRM environment as a Business Analyst (support, vendor integration, in-house development).
• Proven expertise in Front Office, Operations, and Risk requirements—specifically for Natural Gas trading.
• Strong understanding of the full SDLC within Agile methodologies.
• Highly proficient in SQL and database structures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Degree from an Engineering School or University (preferred in technical or engineering)
• Strong knowledge of ETRM systems (vendor or in-house).
• Understanding of data modeling, business application flows, and reporting frameworks (i.e PowerBI, Stored Procedure).
• Familiarity with Agile tools (e.g., DevOps)
  
  
  

Desirable Skills

• Power BI (or other BI tools) for reporting and dashboard creation.
• Experience or certifications in:
• Microsoft technologies
• Software development or testing methodologies
• ITIL or project management frameworks
• Knowledge of additional programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA, C#).
• Exposure to Power or Power Derivatives is a plus.
