Position Summary: The IT Technician, under the direction of the IT Manager, is responsible for providing front line support for users in both an office and production setting. This includes providing support with applications related to office computing including but not limited to MS Office, business planning and reporting applications, CAD software, as well as production related equipment that provides users in manufacturing access to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software that facilitates manufacturing. Key objectives of this position are to assure there are minimal interruptions to the services the Business Technology (BT) Department provides.
Essential Functions
· Helpdesk: Monitor and respond to helpdesk tickets and issues such as general troubleshooting of computer systems including laptops and desktops, software installation and troubleshooting remote/VPN connection problems assigning and maintaining network permissions, printing, and scanning, answering endpoint protection and malware questions.
· New Equipment: Prepare and stage new equipment for users to receive and catalog equipment, install the software required for the user’s position setup, and support remote access to ensure systems are up to date before deployment, work with the end user to prepare for migration from the old system. Make educated and informed decisions when purchasing equipment by obtaining multiple competitive quotes.
· Support and Monitoring: Monitor servers for warnings and critical events such as failed backups, etc. Assist users with backup questions and needs; provide support to others in the department. Update and maintain accurate records of IT equipment; keep IT equipment and tools organized. Install and set up software as organizational needs change. Research and obtain quotes for IT equipment. Prepare and update computer manuals/training guides for users.
· Collaboration: Develop and maintain relationships with Gusmer personnel to improve their comfort level approaching BT with requests. Build and maintain relationships with outside BT vendors and support networks. Work with remote offices and the onsite workforce to guarantee server and resource availability. Interact with external vendors such as IBM, Infor, SAP to keep core services up and running.
Other Duties
· Assists with the maintenance and troubleshooting of client computers and servers at other Gusmer Enterprises locations including virtual/remote locations.
· Make the best use of Gusmer’s technology investments by periodically checking on equipment, ensuring they are in top working order.
· Assist with network setup and maintenance including switches, access points, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements
· Associates degree in Computer Science or related study.
· Ability to write clear and concise instructions and to use the English language with proficiency.
· Strong communication and people skills
· Two years in an IT Support role with a working knowledge of Windows based desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft Office products, Databases, Client Server methodology in a multiple VLAN environment.
· Remote control applications for remote support.
· Experience with end user support and helpdesk support a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) Required
· Strong PC skills experience with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 2010 Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook.
· Understanding of local area networks and Wi-Fi technology.
· Strong troubleshooting abilities with computer software and hardware issues.
· Understanding of server/client methodology.
· Understanding of data warehousing/network storage/virtual environments.
· Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint, Linux, Windows Server 2008 , and backup software a plus.
· Ability to install, replace, and upgrade hardware in desktops and laptops.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk on normal and uneven surfaces and sit, use hands for writing and keyboarding, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to lift, carry, and push up to 25 pounds; stand, stoop, and bend. The employee may occasionally encounter uneven and/or slippery surfaces when in the warehouse. Some equipment is located in racks above head height which requires the use of a ladder or lift.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception; the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
Acute hearing is necessary for telephone and in-person communication with vendors, users, and fellow employees, and visual acuity is sufficient to read a computer screen and paper documents.
Working Conditions
This position typically functions in a business/office environment with some work required in a manufacturing area. There may be occasional travel by car. There will be exposure to moderate noise levels, fumes, dust, chemicals, and allergens when traveling or in the production/warehouse area.
