Postdoctoral Fellow in Synthetic Organic Chemistry

The Lopchuk Lab https://www.moffitt.org/research-science/researchers/justin-lopchuk/ at Moffitt Cancer Center, in Tampa, Florida, is looking to hire a postdoctoral fellow in the area of synthetic organic chemistry.

Position Highlights :

• The Lopchuk lab is grounded in synthetic organic chemistry but operates in a highly collaborative environment within the Department of Drug Discovery and the Molecular Medicine Program.
• The outstanding research environment includes a new dedicated research building, state-of-the-art cores (for example: chemical biology, flow cytometry, microarray, proteomics, microscopy) and animal facilities as well as access to clinical material.
• The Center houses excellent NMR and mass spectrometry instruments as well as excellent equipment for parallel synthesis and purification.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Applicants must have a Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry by their start date.
• The successful applicant will have extensive experience in small molecule synthetic organic chemistry (methodology, total synthesis and/or medicinal chemistry), a demonstrated track record of independent research, and the desire to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• This position will focus on the synthesis on novel small molecule therapeutics in a highly collaborative NCI-funded research program.
• The successful candidate will also have an opportunity to work on a variety of ongoing projects in the lab including the development of novel methods for C–C, C–N, and C–S bond formation, the total synthesis of bioactive natural products, and the structure-based drug design of anticancer compounds.
• The successful candidate for this position will focus on developing new reactions with applications to the synthesis of pharmaceuticals.

Credentials and Qualifications:

• MD or PhD in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry or related field
• Should have at least one first Author publication.
