Job title: Assistant Vice President of Store Operations

FSLA Status: Exempt

Work Schedule: 5-day Work Week (with occasionally 6 day weeks)

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of personnel management including hiring, firing, appropriate and timely counseling, conducting timely performance appraisals, training and developing successful training plans over both direct reports and indirect reports for retail employees. Must include implementation and oversight of personnel and operating policies for a large number of employees.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with inventory counts and inventory processes.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a retail store manager with a history of rising through the ranks in retail operations.
  • Goal and team oriented, a positive attitude with a good sense of humor, and great people skills. Must be able to balance a broad, organization-wide view along with narrow, store-specific perspectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (bilingual in Spanish is a plus).
  • Great organizational skills with proficiency in producing and facilitating timely paperwork, adherence to policies and procedures, and managing expenses and activities within budget, along with experience overseeing the same in others.
  • Proficient computer skills with independent operation and utilization of Microsoft Office software programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of POS systems required.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task to meet deadlines without supervision and set achievable deadlines for others.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license and maintain a good driving record in compliance with Habitat’s fleet policy requirements.
  • Must also pass a background check and maintain a clear criminal record.
  • Knowledge of home improvement products preferred.

Abilities Required:

  • Much of the work is performed while standing and/or walking.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires some bending, squatting, twisting, climbing, reaching, and sitting.
  • Requires the use of hands for grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to dust, and fumes from warehouse equipment and vehicles.
  • Must be able to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • Requires accurate mathematical calculation abilities (add, subtract, multiply, & divide).
  • Abilities needed to safely drive a company vehicle or personal vehicle for business errands.

Responsibilities:

A. Effectively and regularly communicate with the Vice President of Sales and Facilities, CFO and the CEO as you develop your own plans and objectives for the store operations and facilities’ management.

B. Support HFHSA ideals and mission through active participation in and support of the management team’s goals, objectives, and decisions.

C. Ensure strict adherence to HFHSA’s policies, core values, procedures, and internal controls. Communicate, take ownership of, and stand behind HFHSA policies in a positive manner.

D. Effectively implement successful store operations to keep and add significant financial support for HFHSA’s organization wide operations while overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of HFHSA’s four retail stores.

E. Learn and evaluate current practices, procedures and staff activities and look for ways to enhance them; develop and implement new strategies to increase quality and efficiency in the stores and store warehouses. Draft store operation policies and procedures and, if adopted, oversee their implementation.

F. Monitor store performance and activities and ensure they continually relate to and support the organization’s goals and objectives. Identify areas needing improvement within each store and update business plans and implementation strategies to facilitate needed improvements.

G. Direct supervision of management level staff as indicated in the organizational chart and indirect supervision of subordinates below that. Ensure consistency in personnel management across all personnel.

H. Become well versed on key departments within HFHSA operations including Construction, Volunteer Services, Family Services, Land Development, Community Education, Faith Relations, Fund Raising, Home Centers, Finance, and Administration, including our work in Guadalupe County.

I. Act as Educator and Liaison with various store-related organizations for the purpose of increasing awareness and participation in HFHSA’s mission and objectives.

J. Oversee, coordinate, and/or troubleshoot building and facility maintenance for four facilities and any added facilities.

K. Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $90,000.00 per year
