Hacienda CDC is seeking a proactive Staff Accountant with an eye for detail and a knowledge of billings for grants and contracts. Your day-to-day will include ensuring calculations and coding are correct on grant invoicing, assisting department directors and managers with budget reports, and ensuring our documentation is prepared and maintained for audit inspections.
The Staff Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and works closely with the CFO and department Directors. This is a full-time position eligible for our entire benefits package and is primarily in-person. Remote work may be available up to two days per week. Eligible candidates must reside within a commutable distance of Hacienda CDC headquarters in Portland, OR.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create invoices for grants and contracts –verify proper coding.
- Assist program managers with budget-to-actual reports.
- Distribute monthly reports to program managers and support their understanding.
- Code and input record of cash receipts.
- Calculate and prepare billings for select grants.
- Prepare and maintain documentation to support federal, state, and other related agencies' audit inspections of financial transactions, including compliance, billing, funds draw down, correspondence, grant audits, and other related activities.
- Assist with the preparation of audit schedules for HCDC and its related entities.
- Provide backup support to Accounts Payable.
- Support analysis of the general ledger chart of accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in public accounting or private industry is required.
- Familiarity with multiple operating entities or divisions is desirable.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting is highly desired.
- Background in grant and/or fund accounting is desirable.
- Familiarity with Abila MIP Fund Accounting software is desirable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of GAAP, especially revenue recognition standards, and willingness to research accounting standards as necessary.
- Understanding of government accounting standards.
- Ability to review economic activity and translate it to journal entries.
- Understand chart of accounts and its maintenance.
- Able to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines consistently; strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to excellent customer service.

PAY:
The salary and wage range Hacienda advertises for the position means that the starting pay offered to the candidate will fall within the range posted. We recognize that each candidate brings with them a unique combination of experiences, education, skills, and abilities; therefore, the offer will be tailored to the individual.
A bilingual Spanish premium of up to 3% is available after 90 days upon successful completion of a language assessment. (According to policy, even if language is not required or preferred, a person can get a 1% increase).
