Senior Director, Institutional Giving

The Senior Director, Institutional Giving is responsible for spearheading and executing a comprehensive plan for identifying, building relationships with, soliciting, and stewarding institutional corporate and foundation donors. The Director is also responsible for applying the same focus to U.S. government agencies capable of supporting HWZOA.

Duties And Responsibilities

• To be conversant in all aspects of Hadassah’s mission, programs, policies, and procedures to represent them in her/his professional activities.
• Lead the Institutional Giving (IG) Department in setting and achieving fundraising goals. Create and implement accountability plan on these goals.
• Working independently and collaboratively with Major Gifts Officers and lay leadership, build and manage a donor/prospect portfolio of constituents, consisting of existing donors and prospective new supporters
• In partnership with organizational leadership and the Hadassah Office in Israel (HOI), identify fundraising priorities, establish short- and long-term goals, and integrate them into a strategic plan that will enhance and expand foundation, corporate, and government support.
• Create and manage a solution for tracking applications and active grants for private and government funding and ensuring appropriate reporting.
• Create a systematic approach to stewarding foundation and corporate donors in coordination with Philanthropy Division and other Hadassah leaders.
• Work proactively with PRAZE, HOI, and others to identify successes and challenges in grant-supported projects.
• Partner with the Hadassah lay leadership to develop a strategy to leverage volunteers in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding foundation and corporate donors.
• Manage budget for the Institutional Giving Department.
• Supervise the activities of IG’s Senior Grants Manager.
• Occasional weekend work required. Ability to travel, primarily within the U.S, may be required. A comfort level with traveling to Israel.
• Other duties and responsibilities, as determined from time to time by management.
  
  

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience

• BA/BS and a minimum of seven years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in a complex organization. Familiarity with development in a hospital/medical, Israel-focused, or academic environment is essential.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience in working closely with volunteers.
• Proven track record in foundation fundraising and securing corporate sponsorships, as well as familiarity with government funding opportunities.
• Creative, innovative, entrepreneurial. Ability to listen to others and learn from their best ideas.
• Goal-oriented and enthusiastic, with a working style that can be flexible based on staff and volunteer needs.
• An understanding of the mission of Hadassah and ability to translate complex medical and scientific concepts to a lay audience.
• Knowledge of national philanthropic trends and major funders in Israel and Zionist communities.
