What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) position at Haelen Mental Health?
PMHNP Role:
This role is predominantly in person with opportunity for 25% telehealth schedule. Looking for individuals motivated to work in a group practice setting.
Monday-Friday, either 5- 8 hour shifts or 4-10 hour shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients age 6 . Practice needs include patients across the lifespan with a variety of mental health challenges.
- Collaborate with patient and family to develop a treatment plan, provide clinical recommendations for medication management and collaborate with other providers such as therapists or medical specialists
- Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders
- Prescribe and manage medications using evidence based practice guidelines
- Provide supportive therapy and counseling to individuals, families, and groups
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment options
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in a timely manner. Policy with completion of notes within 72-hours from time of appointment.
Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatric-Mental Health
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- 1-2 years Experience working in a medical office or clinical setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities
- Interest in further education for integrative psychiatry with preference for individuals who have completed continuing education focused on integrative health
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to triage and prioritize patient needs
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
Preferences:
- Dual prepared Advanced Practice Nurses
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Certification in addictions or integrative psychiatry
- Basic training in EMDR
Knowledge/Skills:
- Should feel confident practicing independently
- Competent in medication management for psychiatric conditions
- Proficiency in history taking and assessment
- Have excellent grammar, attention to detail, and be efficient in writing medical information at a patient level
- Experience in supportive therapy
- Be pleasant, responsive, and willing to collaborate with our team
- Be patient-centered in your care
- Respond to patient needs in a quick and timely manner
- Knowledge and use of clinical guidelines for psychiatry
- Strictly follow HIPAA regulations to protect our patients' medical information
- Comfortable using an EMR, all charting is completed electronically
- Familiarity with medical office procedures and protocols for routine outpatient care
- Refer patients as needed to supportive services (ie, therapy) or higher level of care (IOP, PHP, inpatient, residential as necessary)
