What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Worker - Dean of Students position at HAGERSTOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE?
Duties
1. Greet students and guests needing assistance at the Welcome Desk in the Student Center.
2. Report concerns, make referrals to campus offices as needed.
3. Assist with general office duties, as needed, for various offices within Student Affairs during office hours (generally, 8:30am-4:30pm).
4. Ensure public areas of the Student Center are presentable, report concerns to the Dean of Student's Office.
5. Once trained, answer HCC College Information Center phone line when staff are unavailable and as needed.
Special skills needed
Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and a familiarity with computers. Must be able to take accurate messages. Ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly manner with students, faculty, staff, and visitors conducting business in the Student Center and with Student Affairs offices. Willingness to work in high traffic public area. Dependability to show up for work. High comfort level in taking the initiative to ask persons if they are in need of assistance. Strong interpersonal skills.
Additional Information
Preference is given to students who can work 2-4 hour shifts at a time and whose schedules coordinate with current office scheduling needs.
