Seasonal Associate - Groups & Events

The Flying Boxcars play at Meritus Park in Hagerstown, Maryland. The locally owned, state-of-the-art facility was named the ‘2024 Ballpark of the Year’ in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, celebrating its 26th anniversary this year. The ownership of Downtown Baseball LLC. is dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Hagerstown and providing the community a place to live, work and play. The organization is looking for dedicated and hard-working individuals to join the Flying Boxcars team and be part of an amazing process in creating memories for all of Hagerstown. 

Compensation:

$1,200.00 stipend per month. The position will have a start date in April 2025 and last until the end of September 2025. The start date is flexible depending on the candidate’s availability.
 

Position Overview:
The Groups & Events Associate is a seasonal position that will primarily focus on customer service for groups, picnics, suite rental and events during the season.

Primary Responsibilities

* Assist in managing preparation for all group and picnic areas.
* Become well versed with the ticketing system, ticket prices, ballpark and hospitality inventory.
* Utilize ticket system to sell tickets for individuals, ticket packages, group menus and group outings.
* Work with department managers in Tickets and Food & Beverage to ensure each group’s information is accurate for each event. 
* Communicate with group leaders to ensure fulfillment and customer satisfaction
* Assist Sales Staff in preparing and executing all group events.
* Provide operations support to the Ticket, Group Sales and Food & Beverage Departments. 
* Assist in set up and necessary stocking of group and picnic areas for all games and events
* Represent the organization at community events
* Work all Flying Boxcars home games and ballpark events
* Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors 

 

Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop).

Strong attention to detail with Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:
·        Self-motivated and hard working

·        Current Driver’s License; successful completion of a background check

·        Responsible individual with sound judgement.

·        Completing or have completed a four–year college degree strongly preferred (Sport Management, Marketing, Business, Communications or other related field).

·        Team Player that must work well in team setting and individually.

·        Ability to handle a fast-paced environment

·        This position requires a candidate to have administrative skills, such as using Excel and Microsoft Office Products.

·        Candidate must be able to work long hours including weekends in the height of the season. 

·        Candidate must be able to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop, bend, lift, push, pull, kneel, or crouch for long periods of time. 

·        Candidate must be able to handle weather related elements such as rain and heat.
