Hallett Canvas and Sails is in their 38th year in business! The sail and canvas making shop is year round business with large work load and high demand for both designing and manufacturing new sails and canvas as well as servicing for repairs.
We are seeking experienced sail makers to join our team to allow us to take on more of the new customer projects coming in the door.
Sailmakers will produce sails as well as evaluate, repair and maintain sails. One must be well established with sewing machine and maintenance capabilities. HCS produces high quality Maine made sails the require attention to detail, careful measurements, and a complete understanding of technical drawings and specifications of sail plans. Sails are designed with a program called Sailpak and cut out on a 38’ Autometrix cutting table. Sails are then seam taped, sewn, and completed with tapes and hardware. At times a sail install may be required at the boat. Servicing sails requires the ability to come up with a tactful, economical solution(s) for the customer from patching to recuts.
Managing inventory and cleanly work space in a team atmosphere is encouraged in our sail loft.
Other experience in Autometrix cutting tables, sailpak design programs, and cad are a bonus, but not required.

Enhancing skills and position level is encouraged throughout the time at HCS- There is always room for improvement and moving up a level!
Located in Cumberland Center, just over the Falmouth line on route 9.
