The Senior Buyer is responsible for purchasing direct materials from approved supplies in response to material requirements established by inventory planning and by customer driven purchase order demands. Will collaborate with key stakeholders to implement strategies to mitigate risk, ensure supply, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Purchase direct materials from approved suppliers for their assigned commodities per MRP requirements. Review Order Action report and execute cancellations and reschedules.
- Negotiate costs, evaluate, and maintain inventory to target safety stock levels.
- Resolve production shortages and provide updates to affected groups.
- Work with key suppliers and drive improved performance. Monitor Supplier Lead time and update system as required.
- Coordinate with accounting to resolve invoice discrepancies and set up suppliers.
- Support second sourcing activities with Engineering and Senior buyers.
- Review assigned NCR’s and process returns to suppliers in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to manage, track, and report on projects.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills, ability to read and comprehend written correspondence and reports.
- Ability to communicate with multiple levels of staff throughout the organization.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong attention to details.
- Ability work independently.
- Must have effective, collaborative, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- D365 knowledge preferred.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience
- BS degree in Business, supply chain, or related field from a regionally accredited University, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years of purchasing.
- Minimum of three years of manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience in managing multiple commodities preferred.
- Experience with ERP Systems preferred.
