The Hampden County Sheriff's Office is seeking a highly motivated full-time Digital Literacy Teacher /Adult Secondary Education Instructor (grant-funded) to work with inmate students at the Main Institution in Ludlow, Mass. The Teacher is responsible for providing individual and group instruction in English Language Arts to students enrolled in the Adult Secondary Education program. The instructor will integrate technology and use computer-based programs to enhance student learning. The Teacher will also teach digital literacy classes (intermediate and/or advanced level) at both the Main Institution and the Women’s Correctional Center in Chicopee. The Teacher will be responsible for curriculum development that is aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field with two (2) or more years of experience as a classroom instructor in an adult education or correctional education program required. Bilingual skills are desirable (English/Spanish). Must possess a primary, secondary or ABE teacher license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or be working toward certification. Familiarity with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education is preferred. Expert knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Applications is required. Experience teaching digital literacy and/or using computer-based programs to assist with Adult Secondary Education instruction preferred.


Work Schedule: Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8 am-4 pm; Tuesday/Thursday 9 am-5 pm
