Dean of Admission

Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for a Dean of Admission. The Deans primary purpose is to assist the VP for Enrollment in the successful accomplishment of the Colleges enrollment objectives by providing the daily leadership, management, and oversight of the Admissions Office. The Dean will support the recruitment, evaluation, and admissions process for students while assisting in the implementation of a yearly marketing plan with the goals of 1) recruiting prospective students to apply to and, if accepted, enroll at the College and 2) promoting a positive public image of the College. The Dean will report directly to the VP for Enrollment and will be responsible for supervision and leadership of all traveling Admission Officers as well as Regional Admission Directors. Furthermore, the Dean in conjunction with the VP for Enrollment will serve as the Admissions Offices liaison to other offices on campus.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of leadership and professional development of staff, leading specific areas of enrollment growth, and both broad and specific commitments to expanding diversity, increasing selectivity, and strengthening institutional stature nationally. Bachelors degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university required; at least 10 years experience in Admissions/College Counseling (or 2 years of experience in a Dean/Director position); a Masters degree (or higher) preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Individual in this position must remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, professional contacts with colleagues, regular conference travel, and professional development courses and training.
