Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Facilities Associate

RESPONSIBLE TO: Facilities Director/Executive Director

Position Summary: Provide housekeeping and organizing tasks to maintain the physical environment of Harbor House Ministries at excellent standards of neatness and cleanliness. Assist direct care staff with resident personal care as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prefer at least 6 months experience in housekeeping work.
  • Able to interact effectively with the residents, their families and staff.
  • Dresses and behaves in a professional manner.
  • Able to perform shift work including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to perform tasks independently and without constant supervision.

Basic Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains neatness and cleanliness standards for all areas of facility.
  • Uses cleaning equipment and chemicals in a proper and safe manner.
  • Assists with personal care, dietary and life enrichment tasks as needed to meet resident needs.
  • Interacts professionally with other staff, visitors and family members.
  • Complies with company policies, standards and licensing rules.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work on hands and knees for tasks such as mopping and toilet cleaning.
  • Able to lift 50 lb. either alone or as part of a two person assist of a larger person, possibly repetitively.
  • Have unlimited bending and stooping capacities including but not limited to:
    • as part of a one or two person assist of a resident off the floor.
    • washing windows, walls, cupboards or shelves.
    • distributing and stocking facility supplies.
  • Sighted so as to be able to see dirt, dust, and places to be cleaned.
  • Able to hear in order to communicate over the telephone and in person.
  • Able to speak in order to communicate over the telephone and in person.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Facilities Associate

  • Provide housekeeping tasks including cleaning bathrooms and shower rooms, vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, tidying rooms and making beds, collection and disposal of trash, and other housekeeping tasks as necessary.
  • Provide deep cleaning tasks including moving furniture, waxing furniture, carpet cleaning, vacuuming upholstery, washing woodwork and walls, washing interior and exterior windows and other deep cleaning tasks as necessary.
  • Assist with care provided to the residents as needed. This may include assistance with personal hygiene, assistance with personal grooming, assistance with ambulation, assistance with transfers and other personal care tasks as needed.
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
  • Answer phone and transfer calls or take messages as appropriate.
  • Provide assistance with maintaining housekeeping inventory and supplies and re-order as necessary.
  • Demonstrates proper use of chemicals and equipment. This includes the proper storage of chemicals.

Although every attempt has been made to make this job function list as complete as possible, there may be other tasks not described above which become necessary for the Facilities Associate to perform.
