Harbor’s Edge is a premier 5-star, resort-style Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located alongside the beautiful harbor in Norfolk, Virginia. Our community consists of 300 Independent Living Residential Units, a 33-bed (Medicare/private) Skilled Nursing Healthcare Unit, a 33-bed Assisted Living Unit, and 15-bed Memory Support Unit. 


We are seeking compassionate, highly qualified full-time and part-time LPNs to join our teams to deliver excellent care for our residents. The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) with a passion for working with an elderly population. Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care services to residents, following established care plans, promote the physical, personal, and emotional well-being of each resident to help actively maintain maximum levels of self-care and independence. 
  • Perform resident assessments under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) and scope of practice, observing and documenting pertinent information, changes in condition, and reporting any changes immediately to nursing and physician management as directed.
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, and blood sugars, Administer medications, injections, and other treatments as appropriately authorized.
  • Perform restorative nursing techniques including proper positioning, ADL training, and Passive Range of Motion. Assist residents with transfers and ambulation as ordered by the physician using proper body mechanics, use of facility gait belts, back supports, and mechanical devices.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living as needed, including bathing/showering, oral care, toileting, dressing, etc., as well as participation in recreational activities.
  • Assist with resident admissions and discharges.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED.
  • Current state license as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Virginia or Compact State with valid Adult CPR, BLS/AED Certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an LPN in senior living services or other related medical facility environment.
  • Strong desire to work in a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC).
  • Demonstrate engaging and positive demeanor.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately and timely.
  • Effectively communicate with all personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public demonstrating excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Able to exert a minimum of 50 lbs. of energy in order to assist elderly in and out of wheelchairs, beds, etc., as well as be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, turn, bend, stoop, crouch and kneel, balance, and maintain body equilibrium to prevent falls, reach over the head, push/pull, and grasp with both hands. 
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
