What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: The Dust Mitigation Specialist will support our growing portfolio of projects in the chemical, mining and agriculture sectors. In this client-facing consulting role, provide expert guidance on dust control strategies, regulatory compliance, and mitigation system design. Expertise will be critical in helping clients reduce particulate emissions, protect worker health, and meet increasingly stringent environmental standards.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Serve as the lead technical consultant for dust mitigation projects in mining, processing, and large-scale agricultural operations.

  • Assess client sites for dust generation risks and develop tailored dust control plans using both preventative and engineering solutions.

  • Design and optimize suppression and containment systems such as water cannons, fogging systems, baghouses, wind breaks, enclosures, and filtration units.

  • Advise clients on compliance with applicable air quality and health regulations (e.g., OSHA, MSHA, EPA, local/state environmental agencies).

  • Conduct air quality monitoring, dust modeling, and data analysis to assess mitigation performance and recommend improvements.

  • Develop proposals, scopes of work, technical reports, and regulatory submittals as part of consulting deliverables.

  • Provide strategic input during permitting processes and represent clients during audits, inspections, and stakeholder meetings.

  • Deliver training sessions, operational guidelines, and best practice recommendations to clients’ site teams.

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to dust mitigation in mining and agriculture.

  • Travel to client sites as needed for inspections, project execution, and on-site support.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Below is the range that we in good faith believe is the potential compensation for this role at the time of this posting and is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Hargrove’s total compensation package for Teammates. Actual compensation will be based on education, experience, skill set and location.


Minimum Salary: $110,000 annually

Maximum Salary: $180,000 annually

Ideal Background

Education: Bachelor degree in Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).

Experience: Requires 7 years of experience in dust control and air quality management

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience with dust mitigation strategies in mining operations (e.g., quarries, mineral processing) and large-scale agricultural settings (e.g., feedlots, grain storage, fertilizer plants).

  • Deep understanding of relevant regulations including MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and applicable local/state air quality standards.

  • Experience with dust monitoring equipment, emissions modeling software, and mitigation system design.

  • Experience with pneumatic conveying systems.

  • Exceptional communication skills and experience working directly with clients, regulators, and cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining high technical standards.

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
