About the Role
The Director for Product Management leads a global direct and matrixed team of experts to define and drive the roadmap, innovation strategy, and agile development for all our Ready Upgrade Domain Controller product lines. You will consolidate customer and regional research to create a compelling and differentiated product proposition based on market needs, customer segments, technical feasibility, and overarching product strategy. You will set the overall strategy and direction for the Ready Upgrade Domain Controller platform so that the "what" and "why" are clear to both internal and external stakeholders.
You will ensure product delivery from ideation to launch and drive revenue and margin expansion by partnering closely with HARMAN customer groups. By acting as the voice of the market, this individual will be responsible for anticipating market needs and ensuring requirements are fed into the multi-year roadmap so that HARMAN remains the market leader in Digital Cockpit solutions and drives sustainable, profitable growth for the Automotive Division.
Your Team
Initially, this position will have (5-10) direct reports globally. You will also in-directly lead colleagues in research, engineering, program management, marketing, sales, key external partners, and customers to ensure that the strategy aligns with the needs of the market.
What You Will Do
- Translate insights (market trends, technology, competitive/consumer, etc) into problem statement/value creation.
- Conduct product fit analysis to determine target customers, sales channels, etc. (iterative).
- Work closely in scrum fashion during development with your engineering and program management teams.
- Define and prioritize product features to meet market needs. Manage and maintain a roadmap that allows HARMAN to lead in the market.
- Engage and qualify customers. Work closely with HARMAN's Customer Groups to define global and region-specific pursuit strategies. Define winning product and value proposition opportunities that differentiate HARMAN from our competitors, increase revenue and margins, and deliver a strong return on product investments.
- Dogfood and demo E2E experiences, to ensure high quality delivery while better understand how actual customers would engage and use our products.
- Foster ecosystem of partners that contribute to HARMAN's business model and position in the value chain.
- Demonstrate an ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers.
What You Need
- Agile Scrum certification to understand how to deliver in sprints with MLP (most lovable products).
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- 10 years of Product Management experience.
- 10 years managing customer projects, platforms, and end-to-end delivery experience
- Proven track record of defining and successfully selling product-based solutions.
- Business acumen to gauge not just what can be done but to know how to build profitable product lines.
- Strong customer orientation through credibility with the customer as a trusted, collaborative and productive partner.
- Experience working in a matrix, global, cross-functional organization by collaboration with key stakeholders in sales, product operations, marketing and engineering.
- Results- and detail-oriented: holds herself/himself and others accountable for commitments.
- Experience with effectively communicating with C-Level executives at company, customers, and partners.
- Ability to attract, retain, and motivate best in class talent. Promotes and develops top talent; move or change incorrect talent when needed.
- Ability to think beyond the technology itself and understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers.
What is Nice to Have
- Master's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong experience in Product development and agile processes.
- Experience defining and launching accessory products such as radio tuners, audio amplifiers, automotive cameras, etc.
- Track record of managing large, complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Track record of driving business value and growth.
- Excellent teaming skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels within the organization, internally and externally.
- Experience managing external partners.

- Be willing to work in the Novi, Michigan office or travel to Novi, Michigan office monthly
