Harnham is partnered with a tech startup that is transforming AI with open-source infrastructure, which creates a powerful feedback loop, turning data into smarter, faster, and more cost-effective models. They are scaling out their product and looking for a founding-level AI researcher to own 0-1 development. This person will play a leading role in novel LLM development.
THE ROLE
- You will build novel machine learning and LLM models for use in open-source environments
- You will report directly to the C-suite and work closely on technical direction
- Own development of new PoCs, building out platforms from scratch / 0-1
- You will integrate the model gateway, establish metrics for feedback, optimize prompts, models, and inference strategies
- Act as a thought leader role for LLMs within the business
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Director of Machine Learning will likely have the following skills and experience:
- 5 years of commercial experience preferred with a focus on building production-ready machine learning/language-based models
- Experience working in a high-growth startup or large tech company preferred
- Fluent in Python (TensorFlow, PyTorch) for production-grade work
- Commercial experience building novel AI platforms with large datasets
- History of working on models from concept (research) to production / end-to-end
- Familiarity with advanced machine learning approaches relating to large language models / LLMs
- Experience in settings wearing multiple hats
- History of partnering with non-technical stakeholders a plus
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics or similar
