Description
Auxiliary members shall:
- Perform all duties assigned by a superior officer or supervisor.
- Auxiliary/Support is ancillary position not part of an emergency response crew and may respond to an emergency incident scene via rehab truck, via non-emergency.
- Auxiliary/Support personnel are not allowed to participate in any emergency incident scenes involving any type of IDLH conditions. However, the personnel are asked to assist with the suppression personnel, by suppling cooling methods, hydration, and nourishment.
- Auxiliary/Support personnel will be exempt from any forms of stipends.
- All personnel are tasked with becoming familiar with the Rules of the Department, through knowledge of the Standard Operating Policies, Procedures, Guidelines.
- Acquire a working knowledge of operation of rehab support apparatus, tools, and equipment assigned to it, and operation during a response. If in the event the member finds anything deficient, he is then to report his finding up the chain of command.
- Participate in company, district, or Department drills under the direction of their company officers.
- Maintain their physical and mental health so that they may perform the duties assigned to them.
- Assist with the maintenance and care of the property, buildings, apparatus, tools, and equipment assigned to the station to permit immediate response to alarms.
- Shall wear the safety equipment prescribed by regulations when participating in company or other training drills and emergency responses.
- Be courteous and helpful in their relations with fellow firefighters, the public, and with superior officers.
- See that all visitors are greeted courteously and that no stranger be permitted to go about the station unescorted.
Fill out all departmental reports (incident, activity, etc.) and refer all official matters relating to the department to or through their immediate superior officer.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Completion of departmental application, pre-screening process.
Required Skills:
1. Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in English.
2. Able to work well under the supervision of more senior members and officers.
3. Able to handle sudden changing work conditions and assignments.
Desired Skills:
- Able to operate and move freely on an emergency incident without direction.
- Able to operate a non-emergency vehicle if gone thru the proper driver training procedures.
