What are the responsibilities and job description for the PC Technician position at Harris County?
The PC Technician maintains and supports the Department's information and communications systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for Help Desk requests.
- Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Department's computer software and hardware.
- Install, configure and maintain other computer and network related devices, such as copiers, printers, scanners, projectors, television, video conferencing equipment and fax machines.
- Provide user technical assistance for hardware, software and other IT services.
- Contributes to and helps create a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a cooperative and amicable manner with supervisors, co-workers, and members of the public.
- Document troubleshooting steps taken to resolve user issues within the Help Desk ticketing system in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network problems.
- Create and maintain user, email and computer accounts.
- Works with the Technical Inventory Support Coordinator to maintain inventory database, conduct routine audits and assist with the disposal of retired equipment.
- Travel to and support all department facilities as needed. Office location is dependent on assigned responsibilities.
- Willing to work irregular hours in response to Department needs, including overtime if assigned.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
- One (1) year of computer hardware and software support experience.
- OR Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university will be considered in lieu of such experience.
- Must have a valid Texas Class C Automobile Operator’s License and must be insurable under the Department’s automobile insurance program.
- Ability to squat, bend and lift up to 50 lbs. freely while working.
- Must possess exceptional written and strong verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of electronics and computers.
- Experience supporting Windows 10 and above and current versions of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Technologies.

- Associates Degree or higher in electronics and/or computer science from an accredited college or university.
- CompTIA A , Microsoft or similar relevant certifications.
- Experience working with end users in a Help Desk position using remote assistance methods.
- Experience with Active Directory, Windows Server and related OS tasks.
- Regular Full-Time
- 40 Hours Weekly
- $23.98 Hourly ($4,156.53 Monthly) - $27.05 Hourly ($4,688.67 Monthly)
- Commensurate with experience
- Base in 26 pay period
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting. Occasional travel using a County provided vehicle may be required within Harris County. Occasional exposure to outdoors including heat, cold and precipitation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. Ability to move/crawl or otherwise maneuver to connect cables, hardware or other items while setting up or troubleshooting computer equipment.
